Members of the Comboni Missionary Sisters (CMS) in Mozambique have been lauded for facilitating the realizing “proper education” for women in the Southern African nation.

Speaking Tuesday, October 10 during the 25th anniversary of the Women Community Polytechnic Institute, an institution under the auspices of CMS members, Bishop Alberto Vera Aréjula  of Nacala Diocese recognized the diversity of the beneficiaries of the institution.

“Many thanks to the Comboni sisters who are working in this institution for making sure our women receive proper education,” Bishop Aréjula said.

The Spanish-born member of the Order of Our Lady of Mercy (O. de M.) added, “I would like to congratulate all the families who have passed through this Institute and who today are contributing to making our society, our city and our Diocese of Nacala great.”

“I'm speaking directly to our sisters, to the teachers, to the workers in these 25 years of this Institute, a very valuable institution in this society,” he further said, adding, “Congratulations to all the girls who are training here and to the others who are working for our communities, bearing witness to true honesty,”

The O. de M. member who started his Episcopal Ministry in May 2015 as Auxiliary Bishop of Mozambique’s Xai Xai Diocese recognized the religious diversity at the CMS-run Institute, saying, “This is a school open to all women, each with their own religion; but the most important thing is to know that before believers we are human beings; we are brothers.”

Reflecting on Local elections scheduled for October 11 in Mozambique, Bishop Aréjula said, “Tomorrow will be the day of the elections and also a day of celebration for our Mozambican society, for Mozambicans. We need patriotism, and for everyone to respect the ideologies of others.”

“May the Lord bless Mozambique and bless the Diocese of Nacala and may the Lord bless the Women Community Polytechnic Institute of Nacala on this day and may it have much life in the Lord, much life, to form integral women, who will be good mothers, good wives, good workers in our Mozambican society,” he implored during the event of October 10, the Feast Day of St. Daniel Comboni, who founded the members of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus (MCCJ) and CMS.
