He is also a member of the Regional Council of Seminaries in Tanzania and the International Economic Committee of the Pontifical Mission Societies.
Bishop-elect Mwijage studied philosophy at the Ntungamo Major Seminary in Bukoba and theology at the Segerea Senior Seminary in Dar-es-Salaam.
He was ordained a Clergy for Bukoba Diocese in July 1997.
Folliwing his ordination, Mons. Mwijage served as the Assistant Parish Priest of Our Lady of Good Counsel Mwemage Parish. He later served as Professor of Ecclesiastical History at St. Charles Lwanga Senior Seminary Segerea and the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Tanzania.
Mons. Mwijage will serve as the fifth Bishop of the 8,680-square-kilometer Diocese that is part of the Ecclesiastical Province of Mwanza once he is consecrated.
The Holy Father has also appointed Mons. Kyanda as Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Njombe.
The Tanzanian Diocese which is part of the Ecclesiastical Province of Songea fell vacant in April 2021 following the death of Bishop Alfred Leonhard Malume.
Bishop John Chrisostom Ndimbo of Mbinga Diocese has been serving as the Apostolic Administrator of Njombe.
Born in March 1964 in Njombe, Bishop-elect Kyanda attended St. Augustine Major Seminary Peramiho in Tanzania’s Archdiocese of Songea for his philosophical and theological studies.
The alumnus of Australia’s University of Tasmania and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan was ordained a Priest for Njombe Diocese in June 1996.
