Religious leaders from different faith groups in Senegal have maintained a commitment to live in harmony with each other, a Catholic Bishop in the West African nation has said, adding that Muslim leaders in particular have expressed a commitment to resist the influence of extremism that is reining in the country’s neighbors.
Bishop Paul Abel Mamba Diatta has described his recent transfer from Senegal’s Ziguinchor Diocese to the Episcopal See of Tambacounda as “a return home” to an Episcopal See in which he had ministered for 15 years.
Pope Francis has transferred the Bishop who has been serving as Local Ordinary of Senegal’s Ziguinchor Diocese to the Episcopal See of Tambacounda.
