The President of the Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar (JCAM) has called for collaborative efforts to fight HIV/AIDS.
On the annual event of World AIDS Day marked December 1, the leadership of the U.S-based development arm of the Religious Institute of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), Salesian Missions, has highlighted initiatives providing medical care and social support for young people living with HIV/AIDS across the globe, including Africa.
Social, economic and structural inequalities are slowing down efforts to control the spread of HIV/AIDS, the leadership of the Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar (JCAM) has said.
On the occasion of World AIDS Day marked December 1 since 1988, members of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in Africa have, in a collective statement, expressed solidarity “with all the people living with HIV” amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
